    In support of our national security, and as underscored by President Trump’s message to the nation and emergency declarations being made in communities across the country, SAME has joined the effort to contain the spread of COVID-19. We feel it is prudent to be very deliberate in deciding whether to proceed with in-person gatherings for now.

     

    The National Office held a call with Post Presidents and Post Leaders across the country to answer questions and provide guidance on how Posts should handle any upcoming events or activities they have planned. That includes a recommendation to cancel or postpone events scheduled through April 15, then assess the status of future events based on how the situation unfolds going forward.

     

    The work that SAME members, partners, and stakeholders do is vital to national security, and building relationships and trust through their interactions in the Society has been a critical part of how they do it for 100 years. However, right now the focus needs be on containing the spread of coronavirus in an effort to shorten its duration. Reducing community spread and limiting in-person gatherings are necessary approaches to take

     

    Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation

    The Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation Inc. (WWIA) serves our nation's combat-wounded Purple Heart recipients by providing world-class outdoor sporting activities as a means to recognize and honor their sacrifice, encourage independence and connections with communities, and promote healing and wellness through camaraderie and a shared passion for the outdoors.

     

     

    More than 50 veteran students and companies attended the 2019 Fall Networking Event on October 8 hosted by the University of South Florida’s Office of Veteran Success.

     

    Rick Sloop, SAME Tampa Post President, along with Stephanie Thoresen, USA Environmental, Inc./Post Past President spoke to veterans about their career aspirations while helping with their networking skills as they prepare for their transition from college to a career.
